FAQs
The Most Common Questions We Get
Are You A Motorcycle Riding School?
RoadSmart HK is not a Hong Kong Transport Department Motorcycle License Training Organisation - and we do not provide Transport Department license certifying tuition.
We are a unique 'Profit-to-Charity' Motorcycle Club designed for members that are interested in advancing their riding skills through our mentorship program.
If you are looking to obtain your motorcycle license we are more than happy to help with finding the right resources and schools to get you on the road!
How Can I Join?
The first step is to have a valid Motorcycle license of any category issued for Hong Kong. You will also need a road legal motorcycle of at least 125cc with valid insurance to take part in any of our sessions.
Membership is a simple process and it is very straightforward to become part of the RSHK Club. Simply register a free online account with us to gain access to all courses and benefits on offer!

Do I have to be a member to participate?
Signing Up to join our Club opens the doors to exciting offers, benefits and our exclusive RoadSmart HK syllabus. As a member, you are helping to support the ongoing work we do in helping with Rider upskilling and furthering Rider awareness. You will need to subscribe to participate in any mentoring programs. This is to ensure that you have the pre-requisite standard of knowledge to make the sessions worthwhile and to ensure that you remain in line with our continuing Rider development.
Will I Become A Faster Rider After Joining?
We have a very clear mandate that we do not mentor our attendees to be the fastest - we advocate safety over all else, by using an internationally recognised system of riding called 'Roadcraft'. Speed is a byproduct of the Safe, Systematic & Smooth application of Roadcraft principles.
We mentor our members to be safe & use speed appropriately, making them competent, confident and finally, appropriately quick riders.
If you only want to be 'fast' - we recommend you attend a Track School that teaches racing techniques as we do not offer this kind of program - nor do we advocate using those techniques on any public road.
Can I Tag Along Before Deciding to Join?
We are sorry that we cannot allow 'ride along' sessions with our programs.
RoadSmartHK is a unique club and we make all efforts to protect our Riding Community's privacy. Our focus is on making sure our members get the utmost value from their sessions and having someone not officially part of the session would detract from that value.
You are very welcome to come along to our open social events, where you can chat to existing members as a first step. If you are excited to learn more afterwards, our team will be happy to keep you up to date regarding any further social events or to help if Membership is something you would like to explore further.
Can Members Bring Guests?
Members are welcome to bring guests to any social and clubhouse events - so long as they accept full responsibility for their guest's behaviour.
Do you offer your programs in Chinese?
We have every intention to expand our course offerings to cover other languages so we can facilitate learners whose first language may not be English. However, at this time we are unable to commit to alternative languages due to our operational scale. Watch this space though, we will update the website when we do begin to offer this.
In the meantime, Hong Kong School of Motoring offers a Cantonese Enhanced Riders course should you wish to avail yourself of some of these skills immediately.
